Mizzou Academy

​

The American College in Spain has partnered with Mizzou Academy, University of Missouri High School, to offer international students the possibility of obtaining an accredited U.S High School Diploma.

​

Mizzou Academy offers courses aligned with national standards in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics.


This program focuses on active learning and developing skills by having students take responsibility for their own learning by reading and listening to course content, taking advantage of practice activities, preparing work carefully before submission, and sharing ideas and questions with their teachers.

High School Diploma Program - Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12

The Standard and College-Prep High School Diploma programs offer students an individualized high school experience.

  • Access to student support services, a library of academic resources, and an award-winning curriculum

  • Students are encouraged to participate in the graduation ceremony and join student organizations

To receive a Diploma from the University of Missouri High School, students must successfully complete the General Requirements below.
 

Because many students who enter the High School diploma program transfer credit from other schools, the courses below should be used as suggested schedules only. Students accepted into the diploma program will work with a counselor to develop their own course plan. Indication of achievement will appear on both the diploma and student transcripts.
 

Diploma Requirements

​

To receive a Standard Path Diploma from the University of Missouri High School, students must successfully complete the General Requirements with a minimum of 3 Credits (6 Course Enrollments) with Mizzou Academy. To receive a College Path Diploma from the University of Missouri High School, students must successfully complete the General Requirements below, with a minimum of 5 Credits (10 Course Enrollments) with Mizzou Academy.

 

  • Units of Credit are expressed in Carnegie Units.

  • University of Missouri High School courses are equivalent to semester courses and equal to 0.5 Credits.

  • Practical Arts category includes courses in agriculture, business, family & consumer sciences, and industrial technology.

AP Courses

​

Our high school program offers students the possibility of taking AP courses. Advanced Placement courses allow students to take special high school courses that can earn them college credit and/or qualify for more advanced classes when they begin university.

MizzouDirect Program - (University Pre-Admission)

​

This program was developed by the University of Missouri and Mizzou Academy to offer students direct undergraduate pre-admission to the University of Missouri. Students meeting the academic criteria will receive email updates about their program status and interest areas from the University of Missouri Office of Admissions.

​

Academic Criteria – For guaranteed undergraduate pre-admission, students must have an approved graduation path by the University of Missouri Office of Admissions, and:

​

  • Pass course with Mizzou Academy to earn a University of Missouri High School diploma.

– For students whose native language is English, pass 12 courses.

– For students whose native language is not English, pass 16 courses.

  • Present a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a U.S. 4.0 scale, including all subjects taken from the Mizzou Academy curriculum and other curricula (similar to 2.5 GPA in core subjects).

NCAA Approved

​

NCAA Eligible courses have been individually reviewed and verified as meeting the rigorous criteria set forth by the NCAA.

Students considering college athletics will want to consider their course selections to ensure they are reviewed and approved by the NCAA.

​

* MU High School is the official high school of the University of Missouri, operated within the College of Education’s Mizzou Academy courses.
